SEO DO's and DONT's: Art of SEO

SEO is about manipulating search engines but only to an extent. After that it you really can’t do much and if you try to, you run the risk of losing search engine rankings completely. There are simple do's and don'ts of performing SEO.
There are few things that you can do perform SEO and there are few which you should never do. So what exactly you should do or shouldn't do?

SEO Do's and Don'ts
Do’s:
  • Add Meta tags, content, graphics with alt text, search keywords to help improve your site ranking.
  • You can use right keywords liberally on your site, so long as they are used in the correct context of your site topic and content
  • You can create back links to your site from others as long as those links are legitimate and in a relevant context. This will increase the ranking of your website and also drive the traffic to your site.
  • You can encourage web site traffic through many venues, including keyword advertising, reciprocal links, and marketing campaigns.
  • You can drive traffic to your website using social media like Facebook, tweeter and others. You can maintain your followers and keep in contact with them to help them revisit.
  • You can submit your web site to search engines manually, rather than waiting for them to pick up your site in the natural course of cataloging web sites.
Search engine optimization is essentially the science of designing your web site to maximize your search engine rankings. This means that all of the elements of your web site are created with the goal of obtaining high search engine rankings.

 Don’ts:
  • You can’t trick search engines by any way. For instance you can’t use out of context keywords just to drive a traffic to your web site. This could get you banned by most search engines.
  • You can't create backlinks to drive the traffic to your site by artificially generating links from unrelated sites to increase the ranking of your website based on algorithm. Search engines would easily detect such malpractice.
  • You can’t artificially generate traffic to your web site so that it appears more popular than it is.
  • You can’t force your web site to appear in search engine rankings by submitting the site repeatedly for inclusion in the rankings. You may choose to do so after six months.
  • You can’t expect search engines to automatically rank you at the top of your topic, category, or keyword as soon as the site is picked up.
These are few rules to stick to when you use SEO techniques.
